At the end of this American Heart Association CPR/AED/First Aid training, students will be able to:
- Understand how high-quality CPR improves survival and recognize when someone needs CPR.
- Perform high quality CPR, alone or with help from bystanders, using chest compressions, breath techniques, and an AED for adults, children, and infants.
- Help a choking adult, child, or infant.
- Help someone with a drug overdose emergency.
- Describe techniques to prevent drowning emergencies.
- Apply key steps in first aid, including self-protective techniques, and interventions for a variety of life-threatening conditions and emergencies.
- Describe risks of smoking/vaping, benefits of a healthy lifestyle, and identify injury/illness prevention resources.

- Skills testing
- Remediation as necessary
Once trained and certified, plan to register for renewal training at least 2 months in advance of the 2-year certification expiration date. If renewal does not occur before certification expiration, it will be necessary to take the full version of the course.
