The Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE​) hosts monthly meetings for State and Federal Program Directors in Sacramento County. Directors and other district administrators from throughout the Capital Service Region (Region 3) are welcome to attend. The purpose of these meetings is to provide timely and pertinent information on the implementation of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), state and federal accountability requirements, and resources for assisting districts to increase student achievement across all subgroups. Staff from the California Department of Education are frequently invited to present new information and answer questions. English Learners: Structures for Academic Achievement w/ Dr. Jeff Zwiers

Integrated and Designated ELD are essential instructional practices for English Learners. This session provides an overview of the three features of authentic communication, which enhance the productive skills for English Learners and make huge differences in the development of content, thinking, & language that students must use in school and beyond.

Participants will engage in activities that use communication to strengthen reading and writing of grade level texts, and receive Dr. Jeff Zwiers’s recently published book, the Communication Effect: How to Enhance Learning by Building Ideas and Bridging Information Gaps.

ELPAC New Coordinator Training (150)
NCCT-ELPAC-002

The New ELPAC Coordinator Training hosted in partnership by the Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE), El Dorado County Office of Education (EDCOE), and Placer County Office of Education (PCOE), is a voluntary training session designed to support LEA English Language Proficiency Assessments for California (ELPAC) coordinators that have been in their role for 12 months or less.

This training session will:

♣ Offer an in depth review of LEA ELPAC coordinator responsibilities

♣ Acquaint coordinators with timelines for completing coordinator activities

♣ Assist coordinators in establishing and/or familiarizing themselves with procedures and local protocols to support successful ELPAC administrations

♣ Familiarize new coordinators with the Initial and Summative ELPAC processes
